THE CAMPUS IS DESIGNED ON A SERIES OF NORTH FACING TERRACES STEPPING DOWN FROM BELOW THE RIDGE OF THE HILL. WATER RUNOFF AND RAINWATER IS COLLECTED AND USED FOR IRRIGATION. THE SYMBOLIC CENTER OF THE CAMPUS IS FORMED BY A LARGE ELLIPTICAL AMPHITHEATRE. A LARGE INDIGENOUS TREE IS PLANTED TO RECALL THE SPACES FOUND IN RURAL AREAS WHERE ELDERS GATHER TO DEBATE COMMUNITY MATTERS AND SHARE WISDOM.

THE LEARNING AND ADMINISTRATION SPACES ARE CLUSTERED ON ONE SIDE OF THE AMPHITHEATRE WHILE THE LIVING SPACES ARE CLUSTERED ON THE OTHER SIDE. ALL PATHS LEAD TO THE SYMBOLIC CENTER, CAFETORIUM AND GREAT HALL. THE LARGER VOLUME BUILDINGS ARE PLACED AROUND THE AMPHITHEATRE AND THE SINGLE STORY BUILDINGS TO THE WINGS REINFORCING THE SYMBOLIC CENTER OF THE CAMPUS. A WATER FEATURE SPRINGS FROM THE SYMBOLIC SPACE AND LEADS DOWN TO THE RETENTION PONDS CREATED BY THE RUN OFF.

THE OPEN GRASSLANDS AND ROLLING HILLS ARE ECHOED IN THE ROUNDED ROOF SHAPES OF THE SINGLE STORY BUILDINGS. THE COLOURS OF THE CAMPUS S ARE PREDOMINATELY SIMILAR TO THOSE OF THE GRASSLAND LANDSCAPE. UNIQUE TIMBER POLE SCREENS ARE USED TO SOFTEN THE LIGHT TO THE BUILDINGS AND ECHO THE IRREGULAR POLE SCREENS FOUND IN RURAL SETTLEMENTS. A QUIET UNDERSTATED DIGNITY IS SOUGHT IN THE ARCHITECTURAL LANGUAGE AND A SENSITIVE RELATIONSHIP TO THE LANDSCAPE PROPOSED.

THE DESIGN ALLOWS FOR FUTURE EXTENSIONS TO OCCUR ON THE PERIPHERY OF THE CAMPUS.
